It was probably a bad idea

In 1995 the husband and I went to see the movie Outbreak. This was my idea because I had heard an interview and review of the movie on the radio and thought it would be a nice movie and dinner date. But it was not to be. The movie freaked me out, I let it mess with my head and afterward at dinner I couldn't even eat. All I could think about was getting home and locking all the doors while armed with a can of Lysol. Eventually I calmed down to my normal germaphobe state of mind and even made some jokes about global killing germs.

This past Thursday the husband was watching football and I had a head pounding sinus headache. So I tucked myself in bed and watched a movie. Guess what I watched? Contagion. Because I'm a moron. This movie didn't freak me out but I did wake up sick and have remained sick through the weekend and still today.

Hurricane Sandy saw to it that it rained everyday of last week, by Wednesday the dog was bouncing off the walls. She needed a walk so I took her both Thursday and Friday morning, in the rain. Yes we, the sissy dog that is afraid of rain and me the one with newly formed germs swirling around in my veins, walked in the rain. This is about three or four bad ideas already right?

I called my doctors office this morning, that hates me, my doctor doesn't hate me, the witches in the office however do not care if I live or die. My doctor is apparently 'booked up solid' the whole week. Which translates into 'we can't squeeze you in because that would involve extra work for us, we know we are in the health care profession but you sick people kind of throw off our day and we have stuff to do.' I was told to go to urgent care.

"Insert a string of profanity laced sentences here."

So now I sit and wait for my possible strep throat to mutant into a global catastrophic event. I, the host, plan to vote tomorrow come hell or high water or bubonic plague. So everyone watch out, I'm going out in public tomorrow and taking my germs with me.

Oh yea! I don't live anywhere near you and our germs.

Hee Hee.

I'm sorry you are ill. Strep is misery. Get some drugs!

Rain? We need some. Send it,please.

Good to see you posting and happy voting!

Ha. Me too, bombarded with germs, bacteria making merry throughout me. Here in England, however, the dragons at the doctor's reception aren't so bad, so this morning I was waiting outside when the doors opened at 8 a.m., reception opens at 8:30, and 15 minutes later my doctor was frowning at me and listening to my wheezy chest. I had to communicate with scribbled notes, as my voice ceased to work last nights. There's a pharmacy on the premises, so I was able to pick up a heap of antibiotics, two different ones, because I seem to have got the zombie plague.
And how much did I pay? Well, nothing.
Strange how U.S. politicians seem to think the british NHS is an inferior concept.

I went to work, but my boss, who's got a holiday booked next week, recoiled in fear at my croaks and my scribbled notes.
"Begone, foul-fiend!" he cried, brandishing a crucifix, "Slink away home to your crypt". And I, gladly, slunk.
I have warmth, hot drinks, honey and lemon.
And I promise, honestly, that I'll do a little work on this computer, just as soon as I finish reading blogs......

Carol remember how I said I was going to beat my post count of last year, this year. I don't think I will make it.

soubriquet - There are medications for zombie plague? Thank God.

How are you doing?
I can almost speak again, but in a scary voice that would have come in handy for halloween.

I am happy you didn't carry out your threat to stop blogging because you couldn't think of anything funny. So... this was intended to be a blog of the comedy genre? Now I get it.

I recommend a movie called "The Andromeda Strain" which is from the 70s and thus will seem new to you. :)

He pays for health care for 40 years by payroll deduction and then brags that health care is free in England. Go figure. That's just how bright they are over there. If they deducted for food out of the paycheck, then they would say they eat for free. :)

soubriquet: I have now diagnosed myself with a sinus infection instead of strep throat. I have not been to the doctor yet, long story. It involves a kid who can't afford to fix his car and therefore takes mine.

Relax Max: Nothing is free, someone paid for soubriquets drugs. Unless, maybe they have money that grows on trees in England.
Yes this is my humor blog. Untimely deaths squash my funny.
Read here if you want a brief explanation.

There will be no post on the subject as it hurts too much.

i do care, but nothing was to be gleaned about untimely deaths from the link you gave about kicking pumpkins. Unless I am just dumber than I had imagined. But whatever it is, you don't have to talk about it. I'm sorry you are hurting.

You are so right, mr max.
I pay my insurance, just like you do.

Relax Max said...

Not like I do, no, (I choose my insurance company) but you do pay. That said, I would like a real, honest, national health plan (this would leave out Obamacare) which covered all and was transparent in how much it costs. It would be funded by taxes and we wouldn't claim it was free.

Should I just sit back and let you two work this out? Not that I'm complaining, I don't get very many comments on my blog.
Obamacare doesn't apply to our fearless leader, his family, senators and their families nor our representatives and their families. What does that tell you? I guess I need to get into politics.

I'm sorry, Sue. This shouldn't be done on your blog. Most people reading this don't know Soubriquet is my friend and that I insult him with glee. Many people reading this, including you, might get the idea I am insulting the British health care system, when that is far from the truth. My only goal here was to throw some grit in the gears of the wise Mr. Soubriquet. In the future, I will keep my barbs on my own blog. He is very bright indeed, by the way.

No, don't go into politics, Sue.

I don't mind the barbs going back and forth. I makes my blog look popular. ;-)
