Sue and Bill's Wild Weekend Part 2: Breakfast Is A Big Deal For Us

At 4:30 in the afternoon Friday, we stopped for breakfast. Because going out to breakfast is huge for us. Probably because we never eat it, ever, except for cereal. And then Saturday, we emerged from our hotel room at 1:00pm in search of a good breakfast again. Mingling with the locals and tourist, we arrived at the "we're having breakfast again" restaurant and past by a woman just outside the door licking something out of a little plastic cup. Both of us noticed and said nothing, but our eyes met and twinkled with anticipation. We love restaurants full of weird people.
I don't know if I had "Humor Blogger" written all over my face or they saw the white bungee cord sticking out of my purse and immediately labeled us "tourist", but the hostess stuck us in the back room by ourselves. I don't know how they expect us to learn their culture if they stick us in a back room. But then our waiter Johnny arrived. Huh. Imagine if you will a man say, 30 something, with a Moe from the Three Stooges hair cut, jet black hair, but cut uneven, an earring in each ear, very pale and too thin. He looked at us with pad and pen in hand like he was accustomed to getting the once over and was just waiting for us to get it out of our system so he could serve us breakfast. We said nothing.
We never did learn what we were suppose to lick out of the little plastic cups, but Johnny served up a good breakfast.

I love a good breakfast in the afternoon. Nothing like a good mushroom and cheese omelet with home fries on the side. I don't feel stuffed afterwards. Very satisfying!

I spent the weekend in California and had avocado with my eggs every morning. Loved it!

My husband loves breakfast anytime of the day. Not me. I don't do breakfast foods. They make me sick. Give me a slice of pizza for breakfast and that's good to me.

Isn't it wonderful when the "blog gods" send you good writing material like an odd waiter? Ah...so refreshing.

You can't beat breakfast for dinner. And we absolutely love little hole in the wall restaurants with lots of character - and characters! Including Moe from the 3 Stooges.

I can't stand eating breakfast first thing in the morning unless-like you said-it's cereal. But yeah, going out for breakfast food at night or in the afternoon is quality. And those restaurants that serve it are never at a loss for weird people.

Hi Sue,

I'm over here for the first time (through Humor Bloggers) and enjoyed this post. For whatever it's worth, I enjoy good writing and that one sentence, "He looked at us with pad and pen in hand like he was accustomed to getting the once over. . . " was brilliant. What a great way to paint the picture.

Take care,
Chris

Kathy - I had a ham and cheese omelet, it was wonderful.

Prefers Her Fantasy Life - I've never had avocado with my eggs, huh!

Lisa - Johnny was one odd waiter, but very professional, we tipped him well.

Stickman - We were just waiting for Curly to show up, it would have been awesome.

Shawn - Breakfast food is always better when you go out for it, cooking it is a drag.

Thank you for the compliments Chris and thanks for stopping by!

Nooter - I'm sure your very good at licking out of plastic cups!
