The Creature in the Wall

Monday morning promised to be an above average Monday. The office was going to literally be a ghost town. All the offices were going dark because of a big meeting out of state. I was up front holding down the fort, so to speak. In other words, peace and quiet. I was looking forward to today almost as much as an Egg McMuffin Friday.
With a big smile on my face I sat down to start my day. Sipping my piping hot cappuccino and going through my emails. It was quiet. Until I heard the noise.
"What the hell was that?"
It came from the wall that is within my reach. I leaned over in my chair and cocked my ear towards the suspicious sound. There it goes again. A co-worker happened upon me while I was staring at the wall.
Now everyone knows that when a wall is making a noise, it's only going to do it when you are alone with it. But I still said, "The wall is making a noise." His eyes lit up because right then he realized that his Monday just got better. He had someone to tease mercilessly for the rest of the day.
"What kind of a noise?" He cared not, I could tell by his grin.
"The kind of noise a creature would make if it was clawing it's way through a wall to attack me, that kind of noise, it's unsettling."
We both remained silent for a few seconds, nothing. He banged on the wall.
"I don't hear anything."
"Of course you don't hear anything, it's going to wait until you leave."
He started to walk away, but I kept talking.
"It's only a matter of time before it breaks through the wall."
My voice grew louder as he continued down the hall.
"I'll be here all alone."
"Uh huh."
"Just waiting for the creature to strike."
He turned the corner.
"Don't worry about me, I'm sure I'll be fine." By now I was shouting.
Alone again. 10 seconds later the creature started to claw it's way out, I whimpered.

This Quarter is Sticky

Before the sinus medication takes effect I thought I'd try to form a few complete sentences. I don't know what made me remember this cappuccino event, perhaps my latest coughing fit broke a memory through my sinus medicine haze.
If you haven't figured it out already, I'm a mocha cappuccino maniac. I have to stop, I have no control over myself when a Speedway gas station presents itself before me and my car. I can't afford Starbucks all the time. Besides I like to fill my own cup, I have time to wait for the foam to go down so I can fit more of that blessed liquid in. Which brings me to my jogged memory. I made a mess with overflowing mocha, by the time I got to the resister to pay my $1.29 I was sticky. I grabbed a moist towelette and began unstickying. The cashier looked at me and said, "$1.29."
"Uhhhh...... hold on, this quarter is sticky." I washed the quarter.
She looked at me with wide, disbelieving eyes. "No one's ever done that before."
I didn't know how to take that after looking at her face. She either thought I was an angel from above or a certifiable nut case. It was hard to tell.
I like to think she went on to perform a good deed for someone, like on that commercial, I sort of set off a chain reaction. Not the crazy lady she tells all her friends about when they are out for drinks. "Oh here comes the check, everybody wash your money." And then they all laugh hysterically.

Stories in my Head

Saturday, April 19, 2008 in Northeast Ohio, it's a balmy 78 degrees and I stopped for a piping hot, 24 oz., mocha cappuccino. Because I have no self control over the whole mocha cappuccino at every corner situation. Also when you stop at these gas station/convenience stores, you run into all kinds of people and I can usually make up a story in my head about one or two of them.
Take the man parked next to me. Either I watch to much TV or I need to get a life, but I'm pretty sure he was packing up his canvas bags with provisions for an all night stake out or he had something in his trunk he had to bury and didn't want to stop until he got to the secluded forest he was driving to. Either way, I avoided eye contact with him just to be safe.

Couple Questions For My Readers

Don't worry, they're not hard questions. Well not the first one.

Question #1: How hopped up do you think I'll get on two 20oz. cups of Mocha Alert Cappuccino? It has double the caffeine. I stopped of course and they were out of the 24 oz. cups. So I bought two 20 oz. Mocha Alerts and I'm about to start the second. I should probably eat something.

Question #2: And this might be more of a girl question, you tell me. When buying Mousse (for your hair) at WalMart, what is the difference between, Mega-Hold, Ultra-Hold and Ultimate-Hold?

Mocha Cappuccino Science

If I go out, I buy a Mocha. Thank God for spare change in the seat cushions because I'd spend my last buck on a Mocha. It's a harmless addiction, but addiction none the less. And it's gas station cappuccino. If the station cappuccino making machine is out of mocha I am able to improvise. Two-thirds Original Cappuccino and one-third Hot Chocolate tastes just like a Mocha. Also, two-thirds French Vanilla and one-third Hot Chocolate can pass as a Mocha.
For the days that I stay in huddle over the computer in my jammies I've found a double mocha cappuccino mix. I mix two-thirds coffee, one-third milk and three table spoons of the instant mix and that keeps my going until I go out again.

Hold That Door

I was out this morning and on my way home I stopped for a mocha cappuccino, because can't not stop. I'd spend my last buck on a mocha cappuccino. On my way out with my beloved mocha cappuccino, a deliveryman was on his way in with several boxes on one of those tall thingamabobbers with wheels. I can guarantee you this post is not going where you think it is, so let me spare you the suspense, nothing happened to my mocha!
This is where I'm going. He held the door for me. And I in turn, held the door open for him, because I am generally a nice enough person. He actually looked surprised and told me no one ever holds the door open for him. It takes 5 seconds, max, to hold the door open for someone. You can't be in that much of a hurry where 5 seconds is going to throw your schedule all to hell.
This post is me doing my part to make the world a better place. Slow down and hold the damn door open once in a while and do it with a smile.
